wirklich tolle Fotos! Besonders die Landschaftsaufnahmen und das Nachtbild... Toll!

Ist auf jeden Fall eine Reise wert!

Jo sehr genial! Echt klasse. Wie sieht das mit den Cafe aus und den beiden Blöcken? Das kann ins Auge gehen oder? Das Nachtbild vom Flughafen ist echt klasse. Das mit den Krawatten und den ganzen "Zetteln" habe ich schon irgendwo mal gesehen und gehört. Kannst du meinem Gedächtnis auf die Sprünge helfen?

Die Naturfotos sind echt schön. Wie sieht das mit Fotografieren an Flughäfen aus? Ich habe gehört, das es da Ärger geben kann?!

Die "Türmchen" stehen schon seit ein paar tausend Jahren in dieser Form. Ohne Erdbeben bleibt das wohl noch lange so. Seit ca. 1985 hab' ich das "thrill dinner" dort schon x-mal überlebt, ist jedenfalls sicherer als Luftfahrt .

Die Pinnacle Peak Patio ist schon seit fast 50 Jahren berühmt und berüchtigt für die Schlipsabschneiderei; von mir hängen auch 2 dort aus ca. 1993-96. Die Kärtchen sind nur Visitenkarten. Der Joke wird aber auch gern von anderen urigen Restaurants nachgemacht.

Hier mal ein Auszug aus deren Website:

When first opened in 1957, the Pinnacle Peak was a general store and rest stop for travelers heading to nearby lakes. To boost sales of his small business, the owner decided to serve dinner on the weekends. It was a great success - and the rest is restaurant history. What started as a weekend cookout has grown into the world's largest western steakhouse with seating for 1800 people inside and outside for 2000.

Pinnacle Peak Patio is renowned for its delicious mesquite broiled steaks, casual western atmosphere, and its "NO NECKTIE POLICY." This "no necktie" tradition was started one night when a Phoenix executive came in for dinner. The original owner, wanting to keep the atmosphere in his restaurant casual, told the executive, "Either you take that tie off, or I'll cut it off." The executive did not take heed and was appalled when the owner pulled out a butcher knife and promptly cut off the offending cravat.

Wanting to be recognized as a victim of this absurd policy, the executive demanded that his tie be prominently displayed for all to see. The necktie was stapled to the rafters along with a business card identifying its victim. Pinnacle Peak is very serious about its "no necktie" policy and over the past 48 years has cut over a million ties from unsuspecting customers.

Spotter haben es in USA schonmal schwer, das stimmt leider. Die Behörden sind dort nach 9/11 etwas empfindlich geworden.

habe mit sehr großem Interesse Deine schönen Bilder betrachtet. Den Mond habe ich zunächst ziemlich oben auf dem Bild vermutet, schließlich aber doch gefunden.
Gehe ich recht in der Annahme, dass Du als PKW in den USA einen Chrysler ...? bevorzugst? Ein solches Modell ist nämlich öfter zu sehen.

Am 12. Oktober 1997 stürzte der begeisterte Flieger mit einem von ihm selbst geflogenen Leichtflugzeug, einer Rutan 61 Long-EZ, vor Monterey, CA (IATA: MRY, ICAO: KMRY) in den Pazifik und kam dabei ums Leben.
Ursache war ein unergonomisch platzierter Tankwahlschalter. Denver hatte vergessen, bei einer Durchstartübung auf den volleren Tank umzustellen, daher stoppte in geringer Höhe über dem Meer der Motor. Beim Versuch, den hinter dem Piloten angebrachten Schalter umzulegen, musste er den Oberkörper drehen und verriss dabei das Steuer.
Dieses Unfallszenario ist für das betreffende Flugzeug bekannt. Denver hatte die Maschine erst kurz vorher erworben und einen Werkstatttermin für den Umbau des Schalters für wenige Tage später gebucht. Aufgrund von Fahrens unter Alkoholeinfluss im Straßenverkehr war ihm neben dem Führerschein auch die Fluglizenz für eine gewisse Dauer entzogen worden, d.h. die letzten Flüge trat er ohne gültige Lizenz an. Entgegen anderslautenden Gerüchten ergab jedoch die Autopsie, dass zum Unfallzeitpunkt keinerlei Beeinträchtigungen durch Alkohol, Drogen, Medikamente oder andere gesundheitliche Probleme vorlagen.

In the seat pocket in front of you is a pamphlet about the safety features of this plane. I usually use it as a fan when I'm having my own personal summer. It makes a very good fan. It also has pretty pictures. Please take it out and play with it now.

Please take a moment now to make sure your seat belts are fastened low and tight about your hips. To fasten the belt, insert the metal tab into the buckle. To release, it's a pulley thing -- not a pushy thing like in your car, because you're in an airplane -- HELLO !

There's no smoking in the cabin on this flight. There's also no smoking in the lavatories. If we see smoke coming from the lavatories, we will assume you are on fire and put you out. This is a free service we provide. Nevertheless, there are two smoking sections on this flight, one outside each wing exit. We do have a movie in the smoking sections tonight ... hold on, let me check what it is . Oh here it is ... the movie tonight is "Gone with the Wind….."

In a moment we will be turning off the cabin lights, and it's going to get really dark, really fast. If you're afraid of the dark, now would be a good time to reach up and press the yellow button.
